My 20+ Year Old TV Finally Died :(

Posted by admin on 13th July 2009

It happened mid-day Sunday, it just went dead and wouldn’t come back on. It was a big heavy old wood-grain Magnavox, 30 something inches.

I was sad, but also, I needed a TV to watch the finale of Expedition Africa, and also True Blood on HBO. This was an emergency.

So where else can I go to buy a TV on a Sunday evening other than Wal-Mart?

I didn’t want to spend much (I’m poor, and cheap), and I only got a 19″ this time (this one), which I was worried I wouldn’t like it, but honestly, it’s perfect for the room I have the TV in, the old TV took up way too much space.

Here is my new TV:

HBO’s “True Blood” Season Finale

Posted by admin on 24th November 2008

I can’t believe I got addicted to watching a show about vampires, but I did. HBO often puts out some great original programming, and True Blood is a good show. Vampires, shapeshifters, demons, all in a rural Louisiana setting! Awesome. Sure, it’s probably not beneficial for the world as a whole, it’s a rather immoral show and will undoubtedly contribute to the desensitizing of viewers. I heard HBO signed on for 2 more seasons.

Anyway, as I wrote in a previous post, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is sexy, even if she is a vampire lover. Last night was the season finale, and I find out I have to wait until friggin’ next summer for season two. Damn.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead! Don’t read if you haven’t kept up with the show! Read the rest of this entry »

“True Blood” on HBO

Posted by admin on 28th October 2008

I’ve been watching this show. It’s about vampires in Louisiana. The show treats vampires as though they are another race of people, they’re fighting for “vampire rights” and stuff like that. I only started watching it because Anna Paquin is hot. Unfortunately, on the show she plays the character of Sookie Stackhouse, and she is a vampire-lover. Oh, and she can “hear” whatever someone is thinking (except for vampires).

As part of the plot, True Blood is the name of a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, which has allowed vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight because they no longer have to suck human blood. And while humans have been safely removed from the vampire menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.”

Yeah, I would too.

Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana the jury is still out.

Anyway, I’m about to go watch tonights episode now, I recorded it earlier. Also, I’m going to go cut a piece of blueberry cream cheesecake first, because I’m hungry, and because blueberry cream cheesecake rules.
