What happened to the deaf chick (Shoshanna Stern) on JERICHO?

Shoshanna Stern

Ok, maybe it’s not politically correct for me to say “the deaf chick” but I don’t mean it in a bad way at all, I’ve been a fan of Shoshannah Stern since I saw her on “Weeds” (which I rented on DVD, because I don’t have Showtime). I thought it was pretty cool when I saw she was on Jericho on CBS, but she hasn’t been on there in two or three weeks I think… and I can’t remember how they left off with her character, I wonder if she will be back on the show?

Anyway, about the show itself, yes, I still haven’t missed an episode, but I don’t know why.. I still think it’s going to be some kind of “Invasion” type ending where it wont really be an end, or will leave us hanging without knowing what the hell really went on.

8th of November by Big & Rich – lyrics

I just heard this song Saturday night for the first time, and felt it would be appropriate to post some lyrics. I was going to post the video, but I have the hardest friggin time trying to post youtube videos on WordPress. Yeah sure, I’ve posted them before, but it never seems to work the same way twice for me. Oh well, I’ll figure it out eventually. Now on to the song lyrics.

He said goodbye to his momma
As he left South Dakota
To fight for the Red, White, and Blue
He was 19 and green with a new M-16
Just doin’ what he had to do.
He was dropped in the jungle
Where the choppers would rumble
With the smell of napalm in the air
Then the sargeant said, “Look up ahead”
And like a dark, evil cloud
1,200 came down
on him and 29 more
They fought for their lives
But most of them died
In the 173rd Airborne
On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin’
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin’ down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin’ that day
Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965, the 8th of November

Now hes 58
And his ponytails grey
But the battle still plays in his head
He limps when he walks,
But hes strong when he talks
About the shrapnel they left in leg

He puts on a grey suit
Over his airborne tattoo
He ties it on one time a year
And remembers the fallen,
As he orders a tall one
And swallows it down with his tears

On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin’
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin’ down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin’ that day
Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965, the 8th of November

Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965

On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin’
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin’ down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin’ that day

Lonesome Jim – A Comedy by Steve Buscemi

I rented this IFCFilms movie Lonesome Jim and plan to watch it tonight. Steve Buscemi is usually brilliant in everything he is in, but he is directing this movie rather than acting. The film stars Casey Affleck as Jim, who “nearing the age of 30 with no real accomplishments to show for his years” returns to live with his parents.

Gee, that sounds familiar.. I have birthday #30 coming up at the end of this month. :|

Anyway, this is supposed to be a comedy, and it has good reviews from Ebert & Roeper. Plus it has good stars in it, Liv Tyler plays what I suspect will be Jim’s romantic interest, and actor Kevin Corrigan is also in the movie, he is also usually really good in the movies I’ve seen him in. He also played on that TV show “Grounded For Life” with Donal Logue.

Anyway, that’s what I have to look forward to tonight, well, that and the regular Tuesday night TV shows I watch (in particular, Friday Night Lights).

60 Minutes on CBS: Is Andy Rooney still alive?

Ok, yes he is, and so are his eyebrows.

He really annoys me, I don’t know why he’s been able to stay on TV all these years. I heard him bitching tonight about politicians wearing American Flag pins on their suits. He pointed out that it seems to be a relatively new trend, and he gave examples of past presidents and politicians who never wore the Flag on their clothing. I think the earliest president he showed that wore the Flag was Richard Nixon.

Anyway, that has nothing to do with my point. Andy Rooney went on to insinuate that he believes politicians wear the Flag simply for show, or only when cameras are around. I dont remember the exact quote, but he then said something like I wonder if these same politicians wear the flag when they’re just sitting around their house, or mowing the lawn, or do they only wear the Flag when the cameras are on?

What kind of stupid, senile question is that? I can answer it for you Andy Rooney. OF COURSE THEY DO NOT WEAR THE FLAG WHEN THEY ARE MOWING THE LAWN, you dipshit, errr.. i mean, Mr. Rooney. You see, the flags they wear are known as “lapel pins” (in other words, pins you wear on a lapel). Now, Mr. Rooney, where are lapels found? ON SUIT COATS!

Now ask yourself Mr. Rooney, who the fuck wears SUIT COATS to mow their lawn? Nobody. So why the hell would Andy Rooney even make that stupid ass comparison?
I would wager that 90%+ of the politicians who are seen wearing the American Flag, wear it most any time they wear a suit, whether they plan on cameras being there or not.

But again, to answer Andy Rooney’s stupid question, no, nobody wears pins on their lapels while they mow the lawn. Now please go off the air.

Sorry for the rant.
